It is nice to see other people who appreciate Hall & Oates also. I
tried to purchase their new CD in Ontario but to my disappointment it
isn't above the border yet. Hopefully it will be here very soon.

What a cool page !!! I love H&O since the beginning of the 80's. I`ve
been in the US many times and also lived there, but never had the chance
to meet the guys face to face. What should I do to have them performing
in Brazil? Do they realize how many people have listened to their songs
in Brazil for all these years? Please, reply.... Thanks

Hey there ... I'm surprised to see nothing on the Gulliver album from
Elektra Records in about 1970 that featured Daryl. I'm in the process of
trying to find a copy -- if anyone knows about it, please email me. The
other thing I wanted to mention because I don't see it here is that Daryl
sings "You Burn Me Up I'm A Cigarette" and "North Star" on Robert Fripp's
album "Exposure. This was originally intended by Robert Fripp to be a
companion to both "Sacred Songs" and Peter Gabriel's second album (the one
which he produced). It is very unusual, but there are many similarities
between the albums. A different and longer version of "Urban Landscape"
appears on "Exposure", and most interestingly, the music for "NYCNY" is
the same as Fripp's track "I May Not Have Had Enough Of Me But I've Had
Enough Of You." Different lyrics, different melody, but the track's the
same. Fripp's version is sung by Terre Roche and Peter Hammill.
Just thought I'd throw that out there ...
If anyone has a discog of 12"s, please let me know ... thanks.

Hey everybody! I'm looking to get "The Very Best Of Hall & Oates".
However, I noticed on this neato web page that it is only available from
Avon Distributors. Is this the "Avon Lady" that you hear about? Do I ask
my wife's Avon Lady if she can get it for me? Or, can any of you get it
for me? Thanks! Love This Web Page!

I have to say I was never a die hard fan of H&O, however, I did go to
their concert in Fredericton NB after John Oates gave me four passes while
on their Ooh Yeah tour. I was working in housekeeping for the summer and
thought I was cleaning rooms for a cycling group. I found out later in
the day they were not cyclists but H&O. I had a great conversation with
the members of the band and proceeded to clean John's room (with his
permission of course). I was a naive girl, however, and did not realize
that he was becoming overly friendly. I guess many young girls would have
accepted his advances but not me! At any rate, he had already offered me
passes to the concert and he did follow through on that. It was a lot of
fun and being in a small town, it was somewhat intimate as well. I have
some momentos but, believe it or not, I never asked anyone for an
autograph!! I actually thought they'd consider that rude. I had much to
learn. I can actually say though that I did have a lesson in life from
John Oates!!!!!

The first rock concert I ever went to see was Hall & Oates 1985 Live

theirs only since the Voices album- geez I was 12 when "Voices" came out!

Hey! If any of "y'all" are looking for Daryl + John's 1970s RCA
catalog (as well as Daryl's "Sacred Songs") on CD, try Blockbuster Music
(which is where I got my Japanese imports for "Beauty On A Back Street",
"Along The Red Ledge", and "Sacred Songs"). If they don't have a copy
floating around in their import bins, I am sure they can special order it
for you (of course, like all Japanese import CDs, these run well in excess
of $30.00). Happy Hunting! - E.A.H.

Brilliant site, Marc... finally come out of the closet and admit to
being a diehard Hall & Oates fan... the mrs. still doesn't get it. I saw
the 86? tour for Big Bam Boom, I was floating... there are many great
memories from my misspent youth, with "H 2O" playing in the background...
since 1986, announced 2 or 3 shows in Toronto and they cancelled every
one... Damn.

Great page Marc! One of the greatest concerts I ever saw was in
September of 1989, when Daryl and John played Hemisfair Park in San
Antonio, as part of the Texas Special Olympics Party (remember "Get back
to ya soon with more details"?). Needless to say, I am very much excited
about the new Daryl Hall John Oates album coming out this spring / summer.
Don't get me wrong: I love Daryl's solo work, yet it always feels like
it's "missing something".

Just found this site the other day and it made me remember what great
duo Hall and Oats are. I have H20 on LP so I had to dig it out and listen
to it. I had no idea Daryl had so many solo albums, the only one I knew
of was Soul Alone. However, I hope the guys get back together and record a
full studio album of new songs. Most of my friends laugh when I mention I
like groups like Hall and Oats, so its great to see there are still many
fans out there.

My father and I share a special song "Sara Smile". Lately, I have been
upset by all the remakes of former songs, which do not seem to be
measuring up to my expectations. Last week while listening to the radio I
heard a standard from "Sara Smile" and was mad! I reasoned that as long
as they left the rest of the song alone I would be OK, but they did not.
I do not know how old this song is but I think it was called "Ghetto
Smile". Sure, it's just a song but it was my song and I feel like it was
stolen from me":( Anyway, this is a great page Marc :) Thanks.

I am so glad to have found this page!!! I should have known that there
are other die hard H&O fans out there, but when you're the only one around
the people you know, you tend to feel like a weirdo. Well, lemme just say
that I LOVE Daryl Hall!!!!! I have totally loved H&O since about 1981. I
got my first H&O album, H2O, for my 12th birthday and have loved them
since. I have always had this THING about Daryl's voice. I LOVE it!!!!
I have a couple questions: Does anyone else remember a song called My
Girl that H&O did? I think there was an alternative title called "Gone,
Gone, Gone". Please somebody confirm this and let me know that I'm not
nuts! Also, does anyone know where I can purchase "3 Hearts in the Happy
Ending Machine"? I would love to have that CD (or cassette). DARYL HALL:
If you ever read this, I LOVE your voice!!!!! Thanks for the years of
awesome music.

Greetings Marc! I have been accessing your Daryl Hall John Oates page
since last summer - great work! Ever since "I Can't Go For That" hit #1
on four of Billboard's charts in 1982, Daryl and John have been my
all-time favorite artists. I saw them twice on the Ooh Yeah tour (August
1988 in Austin, and September 1989 in Hemisfair Park in San Antonio), and
their live shows are fantastic! By the way, since this October 11 was
Daryl's 50th birthday (read Dangerous Dances - there are at least three
references which confirm a 1946 birth year), was there any special
"tribute" to celebrate this milestone? Just wonderin' - E.A.H.

I was at the last concert of H&O in Long Island and IT WAS
TERRIFIC!!! The best of all was the way Daryl warmed up all through the
concert to get better and better, and the closing was Marvin Gaye's
"What's going on" so I was ON CLOUD NINE!!!! I started being a H&O fan
back in Argentina, where I'm from, but when I moved to New York back in
1990 the first thing I did was seeing them live at the Beacon, and their a
capella opening (much like the '50s groups) blew my mind!!!! KEEP UP THIS
GREAT PAGE, and keep me posted of any news on tours. I personally would
like to be able to send Daryl a message regarding the way his music and
many of his songs have been such a great part of my life.

Well. Stumbled across this page quite by accident. Was a
H&O fan way back in the mid 70's, and does this ever bring
back memories - good and bad. Last saw them in 80 in NYC,
often saw them at the Palladium before it was a club, but
that is way back in the murky past. Most treasured
possessions: pair of Daryl's shoes and a copy of the Gulliver
album. Strange that they're still kicking it around after
all this time. Ta!

Well done, Doc. Happy Birthday to the H2O site. Being an Australian
I'm well out in space as a fan, in fact believed myself to be quite alone
in that regard. Then I find this page and all the feelings have had a wild
kickstart. I've been a fan since '78 when I first saw the "Rich Girl"
video and was totally awestruck. Then began a personal crusade to own
everything released, sing and play as many of their songs as possible,
spreading the word like a religious Missionary along the way. You've done
alot more ...and this page is a monument to that. No ennui here, man!
Again, well done and best wishes from Australia. David P.

know a lot of people consider War Bab ies to ba an *odd man out* sorta
album--but I was impressed by the collaboration w/the Runt...and
(considering the Whole Oats stuff too) think it's a shame that they are
remembered as a blue-eyed soul act when their talents were much wider. From
folk, thro ugh pop and reggae, they created a vast body of high caliber
work. I'm grateful.

HELP!!! Up til a few days ago I had no problem contacting the RSI
website. Now there is a technical error, the message says that the browser
has to be capable of displaying frames. Does anyone have an clue as to
what has happened? (I can't contact RSI to ask...) Thanks!
[Webmaster's note: this is due to the RSI page now using frames. I
don't have the non-frames URL yet but I'll work with Lori to get it
working soon from their main page. If you need more information write to
Lori at rsi1 [at] webspan.net]

I have so many fond memories of the fabulous duo...I am only 18 but my
mother has ALWAYS been cazy about Daryl...She used to sing me to sleep
with different songs. Also,my first concert was a H & O concert in New
Haven, Connecticut. I was probably THE youngest one there and I knew EVERY
SINGLE WORD TO EVERY SINGLE SONG!! I remember all the adults around my
family laughing because I was singing and dancin' and boogy-ing the night
away...I love these guys. Hall and Oates were my childhood!!!

I'm a Daryl Hall & John Oates fan since 1980. I remember hearing YOU
MAKE MY DREAMS on the radio, I though it was great, but when I heard KISS
ON MY LIST, I became an H20 fan. I still think it the best song in the
world. But then after I discoved all the older albums, and becamed an H20
B side FAN. There's not a lot of music artist's like Daryl and John in the
world. Daryl and John Probably Played all of the different styles of music
imageable (Rock, Soul, Funk, Country, Folk) I formed a Jazz-Funk Band In
1986 and one of the songs we played was FAMILY MAN. Ok I know was not
written by H2O, but it was them who made it famous. I dont have a
Favourite Album or a Song,I think all of them are the best. I think this
H2O Home page is the best page on the WWW. Thanks! Salut, Bonjour, See
You Next Time!

I can't believe I finally found this site after searching for so long. I've
been an H and O fan since I was 14 (now just add 24 years to that!) I'm sitting
here listening to "Can't Stop Dreaming" and just can't get enough of it.
Fantastic stuff. I used to be a DJ (one of the first women in my city) and have
the "demonstration, Not for Sale" copy of "Beauty on a Back Street" which still
contained the free H and O poster included in the sleeve! Pays to look back at
your old stuff, doesn't it? I practically fell over when I discovered it. Please
keep talking about the guys so that die hard fans can at least know we're out
there. These are two guys that bring hope into my life every time I play their
music, which is every day. Feel free to talk to me at JGold007 [at] AOL

I have to go along with the previous question. I was playing Daryl's
wonderful CD, yet again, in my car (I only listen everyday and every
night), and I began to wonder if DH had *really* made some changes in his
life and, perhaps, had made his long-time relationship even more
"permanent"- if you get my drift. If anyone has any inkling about this,
I'm waiting "on the edge".

David! I checked your Hall and Oates Rare Page. Thank U for the nice
work. But I have to add 2 rare songs which I know. Firstly, "Love Train"
in 'Earth girls are easy' Soundtrack, and secondly, "Philadelphia Freedom"
in 'Two rooms' Trubute album for Elton John and his lyric partner (maybe
Taufin or something). Aren't they rare?

thing . . . to Norma Parry (if you are reading this) . I received your

reasons which I will explain in the e-mail. To everyone . . . get your

I was fortunate enough to work a few years back in a band with a guitar
player named Peter Calo, he works alot with Carly Simon and last summer
worked the Simon/Hall&Oates Concert and was sweet wnough to "Make my
Dreams Come True" with backstage passes. Well after 21 years of singing
and doing alot of H&O songs there before me was the "tall guy himself"
Daryl Hall. After picking my chin up off the floor I went over to talk to
him, I felt this need to tell him that I do his version of Everytime You
Go Away not Paul Youngs(no offense to Paul)I believe you can take a pop
song and give it soul, but you don't take a soul song and make it pop, it
just doesn't work...not if the song is good..Oh it may sell!!!!BUT. In
some strange way I think Daryl was happy to see someone understood that
too, If your a big enough Daryl Hall fan you know his brooding ways, his
music is very deep and so is he, if you are also one who reads between the
lines you may of heard in his voice at concerts over the years when he
would intro the song(Oh this was a big hit with an English artist) even
talking to me he never voiced his discontentment but it was there. I also
got to talk to Charlie Duchant the sax man had to ask where his red
sneakers were? At any rate its nice to see that others still love &
support Daryl, as much as I have and still do after all this time. After
all I think he still has a lot more to sing about!!!! Daryl is everything
in person, you would expect him to be & more......
Much Love
